Micro-Credit Program

Micro credit is one of the major programme components of BGS which equips the rural poor to stand up on their own feet. Since 1995 BGS lunches the programme aim at to promote and highlight two important issues; women empowerment and family development. Group approach is used as development approach. In gradual process the credit programme involved manifold of objectives:

  • Poverty alleviation
  • Family development
  • Women empowerment
  • Ensure equal participation of women in social and development activities
  • Enhance savings habit for future security
  • Creating cohesiveness among the villagers

 At present BGS is implementing this programme in Ukhiya Sadar and Moheshkhali Upazila of Cox’s Bazar district and Sadar Upazila of Tangail district covering about 30,000 families. The direct beneficiaries are women. The programme is being funded mostly by DLB, Germany and some units are being operated by its own fund of the organization, we call it the RLF, stands for Revolving Loan Fund which was generated from group savings and revered fund of organization.

More than 10,000 of most vulnerable, neglected women in rural areas are directly involved with this program organized around 500 poor beneficiaries groups who have received various training, inputs and social supports from the micro credit.
