In responding the natural disasters with provision of emergency assistance to the victims of floods and cyclones with follow-up rehabilitation program to help the victims to restore their homes and livelihoods is the continuous approach of the BGS. While continuing to assist the victims of natural disasters by providing emergency relief and rehabilitation, BGS also become involved in diverse socio-economic development program like; education, health, income generation, economic empowerment, water, sanitation women empowerment and hygiene projects as well as capacity building for poor and marginalized communities as part of climate change adaptation capacity through local indigenous knowledge and skills.
BGS implemented several climate change and environment preservation related projects in BGS commend area specially Cox’s Bazar districts. Mainly, Agricultural diversification using the modern and sustainable agro technology. At present BGS implementing a project namely “Strengthening Capacity of Rohingya Hosting Community at Baharchara, Teknaf Upazila under Cox’s Bazar district funded by LB, Germany and partnership with Anando. The main objectives of this project is to economical sustainable development for 500 family of Baharchara Union of Teknaf Upazila through vocational training and Agro based farming along with WASH related activities.
In each year BGS is implementing the afforestation program in their working area through sampling distribution (minimum 2000 sampling in a year) among the beneficiaries as a mandatory program.
