The Microcredit and SME program is one of the major program components of BGS striving for poverty reduction through creating socio-economic opportunities for the poor and marginal families of Bangladesh. The program has major focus on capacity building and empowerment of poor women through engendering equal participation. BGS is operating this program since 1994 and in the meantime 628 Village Groups involving poor people through distributing more than 600 million taka among 18,500 families. BGS is implementing the program through 14 different Unit Offices in the districts of Cox’s Bazar, Tangail, Sirajgonj, Gaibandha and Rangpur. There are 75 skilled program staffs including the Program Coordinator, Area Coordinator, Unit Manager, Accountant, Assistant Accountant and Social Workers who are directly and fully involved with program interventions.
